Good thing it was just a simulated Phishing attack!

The email you received was a simulated Phishing email sent to all Pearson staff as part of the Cyber Security Awareness Programme.

Clicking on links or opening attachments in Phishing emails could result in a malware infection on your computer and ultimately the Pearson network, leaving us vulnerable to ransomware attacks, information theft or destruction, or severe disruption to operations. This in turn could impact Pearson's reputation and the trust of our customers and learners. 

The next time you encounter such kind of email, please think before you click. Here are some useful tips:

• Check that the email address is legitimate.
• Never open links or attachments received from an unexpected or unfamiliar email address. 
• Hover over hyperlinks to reveal their true destination. 
• Keep in mind that cyber criminals often use email addresses and URLs that closely resemble those of legitimate organisations. 
• Be wary of emails that express a sense of urgency in the subject line or email body.
• Never respond to emails in relation to payments or payment card details. 
• Verify any website URL before submitting login or other confidential information. 

Alert the Security Operations Center (SOC) immediately using the 'Phishing' button in Outlook if you notice anything suspicious about an email you receive.
